About Me

Natasha Vdovkina

I am a Bristol-based photographer. My photography journey started with helping my dad develop films in our darkened kitchen when I was a child. Since then, I have completed a number of courses in photography, commercial retouching, and creative retouching.

I am a contributing member of the worldwide photographic community, undertaking personal projects and entering competitions. I enjoy fine art portraiture, lifestyle family photography, brand and product photography, and landscapes. If I had to choose a favourite genre, it would be photographing people in stunning locations, think Iceland, Scotland, and places with a real sense of atmosphere.

In my everyday life I also work as a counsellor, supporting people with mental health issues. I am interested in people, feelings, and emotions, as well as our relationships with each other and with nature.

Philosophy

"I aim to create timeless photographs which celebrate who people are rather than what they look like. I am drawn to colour and beautiful light."

My Approach

People, feelings & connection

My background as a counsellor has given me a particular sensitivity to how vulnerable it can feel to be photographed. I try to create a calm space where people feel comfortable enough to be themselves.

I am drawn to what happens between people: the unspoken moments, the emotional atmosphere, and the sense of connection that makes each person, couple, or family unique. That is what I am always trying to notice and capture.

Personal creative projects and competitions keep my eye fresh and curious, and they often feed back into my commissioned work in subtle ways.

What I Value

Authenticity & connection

I believe the best photographs come from genuine connection. Whether I am working with families, individuals, or brands, I take time to understand who you are and what matters to you.

The experience matters as much as the final images. Many people arrive feeling a little unsure about being photographed, and then leave surprised by how relaxed and enjoyable the session felt.

The result is imagery that feels true to you, capturing not just how something looks, but who you are.

Fine Art & Personal Work

Creative exploration

Beyond client work, I maintain an active fine art practice and regularly enter competitions. These personal projects give me space to explore light, colour, landscape, stillness, and atmosphere.

They also reflect one of the things I love most, photographing people in beautiful, powerful locations and creating images that feel both personal and a little cinematic.
